The emotional expenses of mental health is different for everyone. Suffering and Living with depression, stress, anxiety, BiPolar disorder, PTSD and other mental health issues is devastating for the victim. Mental health can have serious impact on people’s lives, family, friends and work. Speaking up and having those difficult conversations with our loved ones is empowering and gives hope. Listening to their needs and fears is part of being supportive. Telling them to ‘just get over it’ is not only disrespectful but also dangerous. In the workplace establishing effective mental health strategies and policy can provide a safe work-space for all employees. As I live with PTSD and depression sometimes getting out of bed is a challenge. Let’s keep talking and speaking up about the importance of mental health awareness and importance of seeking support. You are not alone.
