Until it happens to you or someone you love will the true impact of mental health crisis have any real significance. I recall our new Premier Brian Pallister refusing to accept Federal funds because the directive for use of these funds was the money be directly used for mental health and home care. Well my friends we have witnessed the tragedy of not enough funding for hospitals who are dealing with mental health crisis.
As a person who has lived through my own mental health crisis and the inch from a suicide, that sober second thought saved me. Not everyone is that fortunate.
My heart breaks for the mental anguish and the pain of Mr. Van Dyke, his family, friends and those who tried to help. What can we do to bring more attention and funding for those standing on the edge of the abyss of despair? I am sending a letter to Mr. Pallister our well informed Premier.
