Navigating The Way Forward! Speakers Tips on Mental Health and Wellbeing! Speakers have lives too, just like everyone else. Their lives are filled with the ups and downs of their speaking business, family, health and other challenges that life brings their way. So how do speakers navigate the sometimes bumpy road of speaking and life?
Join us to hear from Frema Engle on how the CAPS Peer Support Network can assist CAPS members with some of the challenges they are facing. As well hear the stories from three well known CAPS Manitoba speakers on how they have managed to overcome some of the challenges that life has thrown their way – Deri Latimer, CSP; Elaine Froese, CSP and Sherry Benson-Podolchuk. As well they will be sharing some of their valuable tips on managing mental health and well being that may assist you if you are ever faced with obstacles that get in your way.
Frema Engel
Frema Engel is a social worker, psychotherapist, conflict resolution facilitator, builder of respectful relationships and life traveller. For more years than she cares to remember, Frema has been in the trenches, helping people helping deal with the dark side of human behaviour and relationships. One of her many passions is to help people at the lowest point of their lives heal their emotional wounds and live their life. Frema has long reflected on what life is really about and what makes people feel contented and fulfilled. Having worked for 40 years in mental health, she merits the distinction of Mental Health Expert. Frema is the driving force and chair of the CAPS Peer Support Program and is spearheading CAPS Care Advocate Community outreach. In 2012 she was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of her pioneering and life work of helping victims of violence, crime and trauma.

Deri Latimer
Deri Latimer, CSP
Deri Latimer, CSP is positivity speaking! As Past President of CAPS National, Deri has shared with CAPS members some of the earlier challenges in her life that affected her deeply. How she has managed the ups and downs of life, a successful speaking career and a growing family is evidence of her resiliency. Deri will share her story of her journey and how she has managed to keep on her feet, despite what came her way. She will also share what you can do to help yourself.

Elaine Froese
Elaine Froese, CSP
Elaine Froese, CSP is a seasoned speaker, coach and farm partner. She empowers conflicted farm families to communicate better to get clarity of expectations and certainty of timelines and agreements for farm transition. Elaine wants to build legacy on her own farm and with the people she serves. Elaine helps families talk about tough issues to have courageous conversations and has developed a toolbox of tips to help overcome their difficulties. Elaine will share her story of how she has managed mental health challenges she has faced and how she uses those experiences to help others get back on their feet.

Sherry Benson-Podolchuk
Sherry Benson-Podolchuk
Sherry Benson-Podolchuk, knows all about the impact of unhealthy workplace behaviours. A former member of the RCMP she experienced sexual harassment , bullying and workplace conflict on a regular basis which made it impossible to continue in her 20 yr career. The toll of that experience and speaking out to bring awareness on this serious matter has been a long and difficult journey for Sherry. She has preserved in finding her voice by speaking up about workplace harassment and the impact on the mental health for both men and women. Learn how Sherry navigated the long and challenging journey, the decisions she had to make to enable her to speak out and move on with her life.
