S.E.T. for Success with Richard Lannon and I was his special guests @680CJOB Saturday December 2, 2018, on His PodCast.
I received an email from radio host, author, business coach, professional speaker, Richard Lannon ( BraveWorld.ca) asking if I would like to be part of an hour long discussion on business and what that journey looked like for me. As a professional I like to prepare, prepare and prepare. One day is a ‘yikes’ moment. As a person living with PTSD from workplace conflicts, I know my limitations and preparing is important. Yet this was a wonderful opportunity to get out of my comfort zone. I loved that excitement! That Friday morning the driving conditions were heavy with fog and not to be easily discouraged, drove in and enjoyed the adventure with Richard.
“Be S.E.T. for Success with Richard Lannon and his guests (business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals) who share their stories, ideas and insights into how to be successful in your business, your career and in your life.”
It was like having a coffee visit with a friend. We discussed many topics such as my history to today, joining the RCMP as a single mother and those challenges in a small town. Richard was respectful asking questions to spark creative thought in the listening audience and bringing them into our conversation. Questions 0n my workplace experiences such as conflicts that were not addressed by management and life as a female officer. Remember there are really good people who may not have to tools to speak up and do an excellent job as RCMP officers serving Canadians. However it only takes one person to ruin a workplace if no one says or does anything.
Other questions included #MeToo and sexual violence, issues with bullying, sexual harassment and tools to survive in the workplace with ineffective leadership, when management fails to respond, and the impact on our mental health.
Bullying can happen to anyone and when it happens to you it can be devastating.
The questions were intelligent with compassion blended with humour for the listening audience. We learn from each other. Sometimes bullying and harassment can become so normalized that we miss the signs and the violence escalates. Richard wanted to engage with the guest and the audience. How do you do that? By using life lessons and examples. Set for Success is a wonderful opportunity to learn from other business people.
Looking forward to his next quest and the empowering journey as they are Set for Success.
