I was enjoying the happy feelings from the recent IAWP conference in Cardiff, 700 women police officers representing 70 countries and the many amazing people I had the privilege to share common interest, knowledge and laughter. Back at home and celebrating the adventure with my husband. That was until I heard the news of this shooting of Officer Darren Goforth who was getting petrol for his police cruiser. It was like the happiness was sucked out me like leaking balloon.
Guns! Another gun in the hand of loser. How do we make sense of this senseless act. What is cause of people randomly killing someone they do not know? How do we protect ourselves getting gas for our patrol cars? Why him? Questions the family, friends and co-workers of Darren Goforth may never have an answer. Our thoughts and prayers for the family.This new fear ripples around the globe in the mind of all officers.
