Finding Light Amidst Sadness and Trauma
Life is a journey filled with ups and downs, joys and sorrows, moments of happiness and sadness. While it’s natural to experience sadness and trauma at times, maintaining a positive mindset can have a transformative impact on our lives. I wanted to explore the value and importance of staying positive, even during the most challenging times. By embracing positivity, we can navigate through sadness and trauma with resilience and find hope amidst the darkness. How I got through the darkest of times dealing with workplace bullying, sexual harassment, and violence was with a positive attitude, help from a therapist, and in creating my own self-care tools and strategies.

Resilience in the Face of Adversity:
Choosing positivity in the midst of sadness and trauma doesn’t mean denying or suppressing our emotions. Instead, it’s about cultivating resilience and harnessing the strength within us to bounce back. By adopting a positive outlook, we can develop the ability to rise above difficult circumstances and find the motivation to keep moving forward. A positive attitude gives us the resilience to bounce back from sadness, loss and trauma. That doesn’t mean we won’t experience sadness merely we can bounce back faster and with better coping skills.

Fostering Emotional Healing:
Positivity serves as a catalyst for emotional healing. It connects us to our souls even during times of loss. While sadness and trauma can leave deep wounds, maintaining a positive attitude helps us to nurture a sense of hope and optimism. It enables us to focus on our personal growth, allowing us to find meaning and purpose in our experiences. By embracing positivity, we create a nurturing environment for our emotional well-being. Emotional healing comes from awareness, self-compassion and self-patience.

Shifting Perspectives:
Positive thinking involves consciously choosing to shift our perspectives. It’s about reframing our thoughts and focusing on the possibilities rather than dwelling on the limitations. By doing so, we can transform negative experiences into opportunities for growth and self-discovery. This change in mindset empowers us to find silver linings even in the darkest moments of our lives. Sometimes we need help in finding things that can shift our negative attitude to a more positive one. Create a dream board or happiness board, of all the things you like or want to do. Dream it and see it.

Inspiring Others:
Our attitudes and behaviors have a profound impact on the people around us. By embracing positivity during sadness and trauma, we become a source of inspiration for others who may be going through similar struggles. Our ability to navigate adversity with grace and resilience can ignite a spark of hope in their lives, encouraging them to find their own strength. With my TEDx Winnipeg in 2015 it was inspiring to see how many people learned from my presentation ‘ Tools to survive workplace bullying’.

Attracting Positive Outcomes:
The energy we emit through our thoughts and emotions has a remarkable influence on the outcomes we attract. When we approach life with positivity, we create a magnet for positive experiences, relationships, and opportunities. By focusing on the good, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and invite abundance into our lives. I have to admit so much of life depends on our attitude. No matter what is happening we have a choice in how we react, respond and retain. A positive attitude helps you create boundaries on behaviuors you accept and do not accept from yourself and in all relationships.
Choices, choices, choices, we always have a choice.
A positive attitude gives us a better option when dealing with sadness, loss, and trauma. Life is a gift and I choose to find healthy happy ways to move forward in life. Self-care tools provide a positive distraction to get a better perspective on all situations and in life.
In the face of sadness and trauma, maintaining a positive outlook is not always easy, but it is crucial. By embracing positivity, we empower ourselves to rise above the challenges, heal emotionally, and inspire others. Positivity acts as a guiding light, illuminating our path and reminding us that even in the darkest times, there is hope.
Let us remember that by choosing to be positive, we harness the strength to overcome adversity and find beauty in the most unexpected places. Shift your perspective, embrace the possibilities, and find the silver linings.
