Can you find inspiration and hope while dealing and living with bullying in school or work?
Bullying erases self esteem for victims. None of us is immune to being a victim of bullying at some point in our lives. For you it could be at school or work this very day. It Sucks! Living with that stress and despair.
The important factor is to speak up to recognize the signs of how bullying affects our mental health.
Depression and mental health is a struggle and each person suffers from their own darkness, speaking up asking for help is the courage to live.
I remember the darkest day reaching for my sleeping pills not thinking about all the things I would miss in life. The birthdays, the weddings, school graduation, holidays, travelling to the Egypt, seeing the Pyramids the Wailing Wall the love the laughter. No I was only thinking I wanted the pain to stop, to fall asleep. Out of the corner of my eye, perched on the dresser, a small photo sitting silently, was the beautiful innocent face of my young daughter looking up at me. Suddenly, there was a sober second thought. I can’t do this to her. I needed help and asked for help. Created my own tools for happiness, survived and continue to thrive.
Conversations are powerful for removing the stigma of ‘weakness’ . Be curious with family and friends who may be suffering and experiencing depression or other mental health problems such as PTSD. As a police officer thought I was invincible. Nope. The added stress of silence or looking weak keeps people in the darkness and from speaking and asking for help.
End suicide by ending the silence.
Speak up, document the bullying, find positive supports and believe in the power of your voice and hope. Our scars remind us where we have been but do not have to define our future.
