Fear and Intolerance allow violence?

November 15, 2016

Fear and intolerance is an excuse for violence. People use all sorts of reasons to justify their abusive behaviours, to bully, to deny their own racism, to defend violence against women and to simply convince themselves that all their problems are because of someone else. The co-workers who bullied and abused me insisted everything was ‘just a joke’. Folks, this is an excuse and lacks in accountability.

The recent US election has been successful by tapping into this fear and intolerance, the blaming of others and ignited a racial divide. What is going to happen? It is important to see what occurs in a ‘civilized society’ when hate and intolerance are allowed to grow into the fabric of a nation.

The article posted demonstrates the racial divide in South Africa and the violence suffered by black citizens. No one wins when fear and intolerance live in the heart of a nation.

“South Africa has seen a spate of racially charged incidents in recent history, such as videos of white people calling black people monkeys, but the coffin case has sent shockwaves across the country – due to its horrific nature.”

“The South African Human Rights Commission does not believe so but adds that more cases are being reported – mainly because social media has helped break the silence and made it easier for people to share their stories.
