It has been difficult to watch the last two weeks unfold
with the brave testimony of Professor Christine Blasey Ford and her compelling words of the sexual assault, her survival and most important her courage to speak up.
And of course with the ‘show’ by Judge Brett Kavanaugh,
really it was just a show. In my opinion as a police officer, where he lacked in credibility he lacked in being a professional. His deflection of his answers is nothing new for those trying to protect themselves. Children do it all the time.
It was sad, it is sad, not a surprise, but still disappointing with the newly appointed Supreme Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh. During these few days, I had to struggle with my own anger, shock at the Senators willingness to take this man to the Supreme Court for life. Life is a long time to decide on issues that affect women, and those who identify as women today and in a thousand tomorrows. I am sure I was not alone with triggers and questioning how to process and move forward. What will that look like?
It is sad news. Everyone will have their own way to cope.
How do you deal with this type of outrage, stress, bullying, sexual harassment and trying to survive at work, at home and in life ? We can feel so helpless? I know I do, living in Canada, how can I support my American sisters?
Never give up on you! Have your own self care tool kit for good mental health. Develop a positive attitude.
What does that look like? Watch this TEDx talk.
As women we need to keep supporting women to find their voices.
Never give up on you.
