Monday morning question of what motivates you at work?
Is it fear of being dumped on by the boss or co-workers or are you motivated because of your work ethic and the satisfaction of doing your best work?
Over the years for me it was a combination of both fear and pride in my work. Trying to do the best job under the most difficult workplace situations and poor leadership, well that was tough.
Today I feel honoured to be a workplace consultant/speaker helping individuals and organizations improve their workplace culture. The curiosity part of life never really stops. I think it is a gift in always seeking to know what is happening or could be happening for someone else. If we are curious then we are less likely to unfairly judge others, labelling them or putting them in a box, for their behavior. However, there are times and incidents that leave us really confused. Every action has a consequence.
I am curious on the WHY, WHO and the WHAT motivates people to behave in a certain way and bully or sexually harass others, and especially when they commit criminal offenses, referring to the recent arrest of a top RCMP security official Cameron Ortis.https://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=1779142
Is it money, ideology, revenge, blackmail these are common factors. What could be been the motivation? There are going to be serious consequences. Think about what motivates you.
