Do you have New Year Resolutions?
I do not.
I write out a list of ‘I am so happy, thankful and glad that in 2018 this happened,
I did this, travelled here, practiced better eating patterns, developed a healthy relationship, took a class, was more active, learned self care tools, ….’
Sometimes there are thirty things on that thankful list. Sometimes there are less, the point is that it is better to set yourself up for success.
By writing out your list on paper, the process has begun. I keep mine in the kitchen with the coffee cups easily visible.
At first, start thinking about the whole year, what do you want 2019 look like for you? Write out the list as if they have already happened ‘happy, thankful and glad’ . Set yourself up for success. It looks and feels different for everyone.
For example learning to play an instrument. For me, learning piano was one of those on the 2018 ‘HTG’ list. As a child the piano teacher was less than encouraging and as an adult found leaning to read the notes challenging.
Everyone learns differently, Piano By Numbers was a perfect tool and yes by the end of 2018, I can play the piano.
A little bit of practice, a few days in a row, then nothing for a couple of days, trying one hand then both. Over the year it makes a difference.
Now as January begins, try working on 2019 ‘happy, thankful and glad list’.
Think about your happy, thankful and glad list.
