It is sad to learn of another veteran police officer who has taken his position of authority and power, a position he has sworn to protect the most vulnerable, our children, and been charged with abusing these victims. The victims have been re-victimized by a man who was to be their protector.
“A veteran Vancouver police detective, who in 2015 received a special citation for his work on a sexual exploitation investigation, has been charged with sexual exploitation. Det. Const. James Fisher was arrested Wednesday and faces three counts of sexual exploitation, one count of sexual assault, one count of breach of trust and one count of attempt to obstruct justice, according to court documents obtained by CBC News. ‘Very troubling news’ Vancouver Police Chief Const. Adam Palmer said one of the alleged victims is a juvenile and another an adult. ” “Palmer said a fellow officer came forward with concerns about Fisher in March of this year and an investigation was immediately called at that time.”
During his service I wonder if anyone else observed his criminal behaviour and remained silent.
Disappointed in his abuse of young victims and criminal behaviour , thankful someone noticed and started the investigation. Speaking up in a workplace culture that protects its own is challenging. The victims have a voice and today all of Canada took notice.
