Prince William is helping his brother Prince Harry by sharing the struggles with mental health and PTSD. To share this painful personal journey gives strength to Prince Harry and opens the doors on this often silent struggle of despair and move to empowerment.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that is triggered by terrifying event(s). It can be a one time event or a serious of events. Everyone will react and recover differently. A trauma for one person may not be a trauma for another.
I live with PTSD. Some days are a real challenge. If you see me in the streets I look ‘normal’. Years of workplace bullying, harassment, fear and sexual assaults have lefts these scars. It is important to recognize as victims and their family that although the threat is gone the mind and body can have triggers years after the event.
Having survived, part of the road to empowerment has been speaking up about workplace conflict, stress, bullying, mental health and PTSD. Encouraging people to seek help and know that they are not alone. Finding the right strategies to recharge and find happiness. Yes it takes time to heal but life is worth living. Life is a gift.
On April 27th, I am presenting about this journey at the Moving Up Network lunch. 12-1pm
